Prime Minister Ramos-Horta Lauds USAID-Supported MFI
Timor-Leste Prime Minister Doctor Jose Ramos-Horta early this
week lauded Moris Rasik, a microfinance institution supported
by USAID that has established itself as the sector's leader
in delivering diverse credit products to the country’s
poor. In a press release, the Prime Minister said: “The
provision of microcredit services is an important contribution
towards alleviating poverty and my Government wants more of
our poor to have access to these programs.” Currently,
Moris Rasik provides $1.12 million in loans to 7,646 people
and reaches more than 20 percent of the country's poor and rural
households.
