USAID Co-Sponsors Journalists’ Workshop on Election Coverage
USAID co-sponsored a two-day workshop for local journalists on election coverage ahead of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections. The Timor-Leste Media Development Center, a local media NGO, led the workshop, with USAID partners International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES) and International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) collaborating. Some 40 journalists from community radio stations, the national broadcast service, and all the major newspapers participated. The workshop tackled the roles and functions of each institution involved in administering and supervising the elections, as well as the journalism methodology on general elections coverage.
