USAID Helps Women's Network Launch
Local Product Campaign
A local product promotion campaign was launched this
week by the network of local women's organizations in Timor-Leste,
Rede Feto, in honor of World Rural Women's Day. The launch included
a meeting with various Ministers from the new government and
offered women and women's groups representatives the opportunity
to ask questions about the economic priorities of the new government
and how they would help support the development of rural women's
products. Participants asked questions about issues including
taxes, import and export duties, cooperative support and government
support for market linkages and promotion of local products
instead of imports. With the support from USAID thorough its
Small Grants Program, the women’s network will organize
a nationwide promotion for products produced by rural woman
and assist the women to find markets for their products.(October
