First National Parliamentary Research Center Inaugurated (13 January 2009)

The President of the National Parliament officially inaugurated the Parliamentary Research Center, established to help Parliamentarians and their staff maintain library resources and IT infrastructure originally provided by the House Democracy Assistance Commission (HDAC); strengthen legislative research functions; and preserve official documents. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the U. S. Ambassador and USAID Representative. The Center is the result of a partnership between HDAC, the Library of Congress, Timor-Leste's National Parliament, USAID, and The Asia Foundation.
